Garmin GWX70

The GWX 70 color radar system brings full-color storm cell tracking to a range of compatible displays, G1000, G500/600, GTN 750 and GMX-200 to provide an accurate, detailed picture of the weather ahead.  With adjustable scanning profiles and pilot adjustable scan angles of up to 120 degrees, you are able to more accurately judge storm tops, gradients and cell buildup at various altitudes.  Garmin's GWX 70 also incorporates the new Weather Attenuated Color Highlight (WATCH™), which can identify hazardous areas of precipitation which may be beyond the radar's capability and may contain even more hazardous areas of precipitation.  Other features include, full radar stabilization of up to 30 degrees pitch and roll, lower power consumption, altitude compensated tilt, ground mapping mode and extended life by eliminating magnetron tubes.

Garmin GWX 70 color radar is available in 10", 12" or 18" radomes which would allow the system to be installed in a wide range of aircraft.  The system also saves weight by incorporating the antenna/receiver/transmitter into one unit.  Future optional upgrades include ground clutter suppression and turbulence detection, which will enhance the capabilities of the GWX 70 color radar.
