Management

From modest beginnings in 1977 one of the major avionics companies in Europe has been established under the management of Gunter and Iris Hemmel.

Flexibility and innovation is the philosophy and the secret of the company's success.

Dipl.-Ing. Gunter Hemmel completed his studies at the University of Munich in Communication Electronics and soon discovered his fascination for flying. As LBA and EASA approved inspector and pilot for single and multi-engine aircraft, he is involved in aircraft electronics since 1970.

Order Processing

First contact, order processing, customs procedures and accounting - the dedicated team around Iris Hemmel is the first contact for your needs. If you have technical questions they assist you in finding the proper specialist.

Installation

Our installation team, led by Mr. Schönsteiner, specializes in bringing the instrument panel of your aircraft up to date with the latest technology.
The experts are skilled in solving complex retrofitting tasks and carry out all necessary installation steps competently and to your complete satisfaction, in accordance with applicable regulations and your personal requirements.

The installation specialists work closely with developers to create precise plans, drawings, and installation instructions for extensive installations.
If needed, they also perform major structural work related to antenna or autopilot installations and carefully inspect them.

With our EASA Part 145 maintenance approval, we can usually cover all aircraft up to a weight of 5.7 tons, and even some models above this weight; for higher weight classes, we are available upon request.
Additionally, we also offer services for most FAA-approved aircraft in general and commercial aviation.

Workshops

Now our longtime employee Mr. Martin Scheifl and his deputy Mr. Reinhold Schub are leading our workshop team. Mr. Helmut Eckert - a "veteran" in the field of avionics and employee of the first hour - remains in the workshop team with his over 40 years of professional experience in semi-retirement. For maintenance and repairs over the entire range of avionics (COM, NAV, XPDR, DME, ADF, autopilot, GPS, MFD, radar, etc.) our highly qualified team, which is always kept up to date with the latest technology through factory training, is always at your disposal.

Instruments

Gyro & Co. are best taken care of by our Instrument repair team, headed by Heiko Dittmar. Based on a more than 20 years of instrument repair tradition, we serve the complete spectrum of instrument brands ( Honeywell, Sperry, Collins, Mid-Continent, Sigma Tek, Edo - Aire and more).

Equipment Development

Development of equipment and certification according to ETSO-/TSO-/MIL-Standard - this is part of the design department headed by Gunter Hemmel. Our team consists of recognized specialists in the fields of construction, hardware design (RTCA DO-254) and software design (RTCA DO-178). Our laboratories are equipped with climate and salt spray chamber, shaker, centrifuge and many other test equipment to cover all RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental tests. Highlight of our environmental test laboratories is our darkroom capable to perform NVIS tests according MIL-STD-3009. Our design team accompanies you from your first request via design, prototyping to the completely certified and documented equipment.

Supplemental Type Certificate / Minor Change

Every new or retrofit electronic installation has to be certified according EASA guidelines as minor or major change with the generation of an STC (Supplemental type certificate). AVIONIK STRAUBING is proud of being certified as one of the first General Aviation design organizations in Europe (LBA No. II) which is the reason for our long design tradition. Hundreds of STCs and certifications are proof for a trustful relation between authorities and AVIONIK STRAUBING serving our customers.

Quality Management

Quality Management in aviation is subject of high priority. Wolfgang Knott and his team is optimizing internal processes and is aligning those with current EASA and FAA regulations. Via internal classes and audits our high level of Quality Management is kept up to date and optimized.
